Acer Philippines Supports GreenEarth and Sparks Hope for Underserved Rural Children

GreenEarth Heritage Foundation joyfully receives 14 brand-new desktop computers for its Literacy Program from ACER Philippines.

James Patrick G. Matti, Chairman of GreenEarth, met with ACER’s Finance and Administration Director, Jennifer Teng-Chua, for the official handover of the first 9 computers on April 25, 2011. This was such a timely gift, coinciding with the inaugural opening of the Learning Center at GreenEarth.

A year later on March 31, 2012, ACER donates five more computers, pushing the total number of computers to serve the Children of GreenEarth to 14.

These computers will be a big boost to the ongoing Literacy Program at the Learning Center at GreenEarth, which opened last March 2011. During its first summer in operations (2011), GreenEarth’s partner-in-ministry, Preppi School Foundation, Inc., handled the on-site educational programs. At present, a pool of teachers help out every weekend.

The use of software technology is expected to advance learning in quantum leaps in this geographic area, separated from the nearest township by a bridgeless river and unpaved roads. It will help not only the undereducated youth but also other uneducated residents in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains, San Miguel. Bulacan. Along with pushing literacy, GreenEarth strives to provide sustainable livelihood to its beneficiary farmers through organic farming.

Ms. Jennifer Teng- Chua speaks on what attracted Acer Philippines to partner with GreenEarth– “Organic agriculture and literacy for the children…fit well into [Acer’s] own thrusts. The focus of our philanthropy is Education and Environmental Preservation. It is remarkable that “GreenEarth Heritage Foundation is there to help these people gain back their lives, protect them, at the same time provide literacy for their children. We believe that that is a fantastic job that hits many birds with one stone… We are very eager to be a part of the Learning Center by providing the units.”

From the bottom of our hearts at GreenEarth, we extend our most profound gratitude to ACER Philippines for helping us put the future first through the wonders of Information Technology. More power and God bless you!
